The Boss Player (Komla Dumor)

My friend once told me there's a Ghanaian on BBC
I shrugged and replied, "That's no news"
He's been a Boss Player since Joy FM right after the 6am news
As typical students we watched to see if he would "Gbaa on BBC"
I had to smile back when he mentioned his name through his glittering teeth
You dare not smile back
Komla is the perfect image of Ghana I mean, he has a typical Ghanaian head
Never has hardwork looked so cool
Professionalism ever smooth like sheep's wool
So I waited for the Noble Peace Prize...
But I guess death called me fool
Hades cannot pause the telling of your African story
A true inspirer and visionary
The voice that sent thrills through hearts of the world
Now echo in the basement of Nkrumah and Mandela's cubicle
Sharing happy tales of how Africa climbs to the pinnacle
Don’t forget to tell them how you showed off your Ghanaian jersey on TV
How you never chose another country over your Ghana
How you worked with honour
How passion was your banner
Irreplaceable and immeasurable is the value of a true son of Africa
We salute you Boss Player!!
