The Catalyst

Wrap it nicely and pass it over to me
It looks inflammable but just hold it with skill
I live for that period when it kisses me
Everybody says it has the potential to kill
But the desire it stirs inside me,
All my vacuum it is designed to fill
Did you ever see it while it blossomed??
So graceful with so much intriguing potential
But now it is wrapped up ready to be consumed
Just conducive for that moment... that’s the new potential
Useful and inspiring but useless and demeaning
This is not art this is a strategic lie
Craving to be relevant and surfacing as foolishly revealing
Loading unwarranted accolades and seeking to fly
For every hater is a misdirected groupie
Sweeping the streets they used to own
So we pass them like a roll of blunt
Using them but never keeping them while their existence is burnt
For we fear the infamous records of their famous dent
Wishing the lesson was earlier learnt
It’s the depressing story of an unfulfilled dream
Heart-breaking like a child dropping his ice cream
Worse than missing a village bus, you cant even scream
So gather your instincts like a rugby team
Before life passes you around like a bag of weeds.

Raise your calabash

Have you seen Ghana??
I'm sure that's where Moses got the name "manna"
A country that is shaped like a voluptuous woman
You can bet it's filled with warmth and the sweetness desired by every man
She walks on the Atlantic ocean
Captivating, she's like a magic potion
This is where magical tales and folklore originate
Ananse, the Spider-man's crooked legs consummate
Where the linguist has to be super articulate
Because a slip of tongue is a slip of dignity
And fufu has it's own kingdom and royalty
The King's feet never touches the ground for he stands above all
The Queen's grace and maturity gets you spellbound for she reflects the beauty of rainfall
Akepetshie is whisky's godfather
Palm wine is the "Item 13"  of the ancestors when the spirits gather
There is no polluted air because every lung is filled with freedom
The Banku-Nation freely shares its territories with the Gari and Beans kingdom
Soup is a recipe reserved for the experienced mother's in our smoke-filled kitchens
This is where we eat to our fill because being slim is a sign of poverty
This is where germs are not harmful  and we call that true liberty
Where homeless people flex in their sleep because there is no winter
Ghana is where we choose late-night parties over war
Ghana is where we forget easily and pound fufu more like its enchanted
Let's raise our calabashes and toast to little things we take for granted

Life Is Overrated

Life is overrated,
Like an English footballer it is overhyped...
Because children are forced to believe in big and happy endings...
Sometimes you think you'll live in space when you grow
Everything seems black and white until public hairs make them grey
We live in this bubble until it explodes at the edge of the fountain that whisks you away
Life is definitely overrated

Every young adult is obliged to drive a car...
But isn't it just another invention??
An invention to stop you from walking and allow underrated hypertension
For isn't it senseless to be in a single room and drive a Mercedes??
Isn't it plain uncomfortable wearing a suit under the blaring sun just so you'll be revered as the modern Archimedes...??
Spotting sunglasses in the night when even blind people are disgusted by that...
Even more ridiculous, good living is characterized by being fat...
Life is overrated indeed

Otherwise a lady wouldn't put plastics on her eyes just to look like a cat
Wearing 12-inch heels when all you think off is taking them off
Make-up that reminds me of the popular movie "The Mask"
Mini skirts that are so mini that you can't bend down nor sit straight which slavemaster gave you that task???
Life is so overrated...

If not, you would use your hands to eat at that wedding reception and not disturb world peace with your imperfect fork and knife skills...
Life would be about the simple things like smiling and laughing to extend life
Making that lady your wife even if she's from a different ethnic group
And live like a fruit in the bloom..
Ripe and not concerned with borrowed standards...
Smell the air and sing a blissful song wherever you get the chance cuz life is simply overrated!!
